15 Goal 12 is important because it highlights, once again, how our pattern of consumption, linear economy, conditions an entire ecosystem: overexploiting natural resources, producing an infinite amount of waste and thus polluting and destroying the ecosystem balance in which we live. To date, the resources consumed by the world's population are more than ecosystems can provide. For social and economic development to take place within a framework of sustainability, our society will have to fundamentally change the way it produces and consumes goods. To this end, SDG 12 promotes the efficient management and use of natural resources, as well as reducing waste generation and halving global per capita food waste. But also the incorporation by companies of sustainability information in their regular reports and efforts to ensure that people around the world have the relevant information and awareness about sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature.
